About Sutton, Cambridgeshire Sutton is a large village with a good range of local facilities including a fire station, a branch library, several places of worship, a post office, a doctor's surgery, a pharmacy, a variety of shops and two public houses. The primary school has been extended to include additional classrooms, community room and playing fields. Sutton is also well placed on the road network adjacent to the Elean Business Park. There is a fine 14th Century church in Sutton, whose tower with a polygonal top echoes the lantern at Ely. Little very old housing remains, but many of the houses along the High Street date back to the 18th and 19th Century and are constructed of gault or red brick. A Conservation Area has been designated in the village centre and the Council has recently completed an enhancement scheme for this area. |
